Paul J Napoli, Gives Back to St. Johns University School of Law Posted By : Paul Justice

April 30th, 2009

Paul J Napoli gives a lot back to the community and his former school. He went to St. John’s University of Law and now he is on the Benefactor’s council because of all he has done. He even renovated a lecture hall and set up a scholarship program all for the students. He really gives back to the community.

Paul J Napoli has worked hard to be the successful lawyer he is today. He has worked many cases helping so many people. These people are mostly victims of terrible circumstance. He not only helps people who have suffered from medical malpractice and construction accidents but also victims of the 9-11 tragedy. The community has really taken notice of his selfless efforts and has commended him for his services. When he wanted to give back to St. John’s University of Law, his former school, can it be any wonder that he was made part of the Benefactors Council? Paul J Napoli has truly earned that position.

One of the best things that Paul J Napoli has done for St. John’s University of Law is to have renovated the lecture hall. This is more than just a facelift for a university. By giving a building a renovation, Paul J Napoli is not just helping to keep the campus looking nice. He is also giving the students another valuable resource. When students and faculty have clean and comfortable surroundings, they are then able to work better. It also gives the university a place to have lectures not just by professors but also from guest speakers. It can be a great place not just for the speakers but also to hold the public and press who are often invited to see people speak.

Another big thing that Paul J Napoli is doing for St. John’s University of Law is the scholarship that he set up. Scholarships are so important to students. Many students cannot afford the price of tuition let alone all of the other expenses that come along with going to college. A student needs to take into consideration living expenses, travel and price of books. The costs can add up very quickly and a student can easily find him or herself living off of ramen. Scholarships, like the one Paul J Napoli has set up, are a major aid to any student. Also, scholarships do not need to get paid back later unlike loans, which can put a student deep into debt.

Car Accident Claims - What to Do If You Get Involved in Car Accidents in the UK

April 29th, 2009

UK is considered to be among countries that have the best road safety conditions. In spite of all this, there are still many accidents that occur on daily basis. The number of these accidents prevails further in winters when the weather and road conditions become somewhat unfavorable. Many safety measures are taken by people to reduce the probability of a possible accident. However, it is not completely possible to avoid accidents at all.

As far as road safety measures are concerned, roads in the UK are known to be among the best.

The number of accidents in UK that are of serious and fatal nature is over forty thousand on yearly basis. The number of people killed each year in the accidents is more than thirty five hundred. In order to avoid accidents at maximum, you should limit your driving to such conditions where there is no other solution besides driving. Other than that, you should also avoid driving in bad weather conditions.

In case, you unfortunately encounter an accident, it is very important to take the right steps in order to save yourself from any further trouble. It is important that you remain calm after an accident so as to save yourself from any further damages than the ones already being done. As soon as the accident occurs, you should determine the extent of injuries to the people involved along with the damage done to the vehicle.

Getting panicked never helps, so you should think rationally and not do anything that might cause further problems afterwards. One thing you should be careful about is not to discuss the accident with anyone else other than the police. This is important because sometimes in panic you don’t realise what you’re saying. In addition, you should not admit your fault or admit anything in front of anyone. The only people you should talk to about the accident are the police officers and your insurance agent.

Even if the accident is a minor one, you should report to the police so that there is a legal report, and presence of evidence that the accident actually occurred. You should not leave the accident scene until the police have arrived and the accident has been reported. You should call your insurance company as soon as the accident occurs. It is always good if the insurance agent arrives when the police are present. This is because sometimes the police can report the incident to the insurance agent in a better way than you would do in a state of panic. This ultimately saves the time it takes in processing your claim.

Obtaining the facts is also very important. You should note down the facts about the people involved in the accident especially with whom the accident occurred. The information that should be noted includes name, license number, address, contact number, and the number plate of the other car. You should also get the insurance company, and the vehicle identification of the other driver. It is always preferable to note down the important details of the accident as well, because sometimes you’re not able to narrate the accident accurately in a state of tension and panic.

Major Law School Myths Posted By : Joseph Devine

April 28th, 2009

Attending law school is absolutely necessary for anyone who wants to pursue the field of law. Many students apply every year to law schools across the United States with the hopes of becoming a major lawyer in a major law firm and making a lot of money. Taking the attorney’s path, however, is not easy task. People believe many myths about law school that make them think that it is easy, though. Shattering these myths is necessary if people are to make an informed decision about choosing law.

One major law school myth is that once people graduate from law school they will immediately be able to secure a job. Unfortunately, this is just not true. There are many lawyers who graduate every year, and not every single one is able to land a job. Usually, the people who graduate at the top of their law school class and who go to better law schools are more likely to get jobs upon graduation than people who graduate in the middle or bottom of their class and attend not so highly ranked law schools.

Another law school myth is that people who do get a job after law school will get work that allows them to use their intellect and their skills in critical thinking and analysis. In most cases, however, this does not happen. The work most law school graduates first get is rather monotonous, boring, and tedious work that involves routine tasks. Specifically, a lot of time will be spent reviewing legal documents and researching matters relating to legal procedures. In effect, new law school graduates will be supporting the lead attorneys on a case.

A third law school myth, related to the second myth, is that graduates will get to try to cases in court. Although this may happen eventually, initially law school graduates are much more likely to perform support services like researching legal procedures and reading legal documents. After building up experience doing these things, people will build up the credential to argue cases in court.

Another myth related to law school is that a law degree will help people for whatever career choice they choose. This is false, for a law school is meant to teach people how to become a lawyer and practice school, hence the name “law” school.

Understanding the falsehood of these myths is important so that people can decide whether or not they want to pursue a career in law.

Does the Bar Need Policies on Web 2.0?

April 28th, 2009

A Connecticut Law Blog author Ryan McKeen has a problem: He’s a stickler for rules. Ordinarily a love of rules isn’t a problem for lawyers, who thrive on analyzing, dissecting and generally finding ways to follow (or lawfully circumvent) rules, but what’s a good lawyer to do if there aren’t any rules at all?

What You Should Know About a DUI Arrest

April 27th, 2009

The possibility of being arrested for drunk driving is something people don’t give much thought to when they go out to have a few drinks.  Many people have a couple drinks and next thing you know they’re being pulled over for driving under the influence.  Unfortunately, most people who are arrested for drunk driving don’t take it seriously enough.

What people don’t realize is that alcohol affects them considerably.  Yes, even one or two drinks can mess with your ability to concentrate on the road.  The consequences of what may seem like a harmless couple of drinks could be devastating at worst.

If you’ve been arrested for drunk driving, don’t make the mistake of viewing your arrest as a minor offense.  In fact, a DUI is a traffic violation that should be taken seriously.  The one thing you don’t want to do is to try and defend your DUI case on your own.  There are many factors involved in a DUI case that only an experienced lawyer is knowledgeable about including updated laws and procedures.  Besides, an experienced lawyer is highly resourceful and knows that aspects of your case would require further investigation.

If you are charged and convicted for drunk driving, you’re looking at the possibility of a jail sentence, high fines and penalties, driver’s license suspension or revocation, mandatory DUI classes or rehabilitation, and insurance cancellation or increase.  If you hire a DUI defense lawyer to help you with your case, he/she can help you save your license and even get your sentence reduced.
